Kansas City | Engagement | Craig + Jennie

I <3 Craig & Jennie!!!!  This session was a wee bit last minute since their wedding is this Saturday, but that’s mainly because Craig had to go do this silly thing called serving our country.  Yup…he was off doing his honorable part for our red, white, and blue…gone for a ridiculous amount of time and in a ridiculously scary part of the world…and we are so glad he is back home and now in front of our cameras.  And actually, Craig and Jennie are already married.  They had a small, intimate ceremony in their living room just before he was shipped off, so this Saturday’s ceremony of going to be a shared with more of their family and friends and give them more time to do some proper celebrating.  I am SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!

This first image was taken in their living room.  They have quite the collection of pets children, so I really wanted to capture a unique family portrait of them all.  SUCCESS!

This was an attempted shot of role reversal…dogs inside, owners outside wanting in….hahahahahahaha

…aw….they looked so adorable, I let them back in.  😉

Ok…So I’ve had people climb trees at my sessions before, but usually they are trees that are CLIMBABLE.  Craig (AKA:  Rockclimber-crazy-man) took it upon himself to give himself a challenge.  I was in the process of setting up some light gear while he wondered over to a big ass tree (as seen on left) and decided to pick up some wear rusty bent rod thingie and use it to pull himself up a large white branch (seen in the photo above and slightly to his right).  I admit I was only half paying attention because I didn’t think it was possible for him to get up…but when I saw he’d managed to get it up there and start pulling himself up, I had a little voice in my head that told me I should really be videoing this…and I’m glad I listened.  The exact, I MEAN EXACT, moment I pressed the record button, the branch broke and Craig fell UPSIDE-DOWN…from I’d say at least 12 feet (It’s downhill on that side of the tree, so the branch he climbed was even higher off the ground than appears in image).  Normal…repeat NORMAL, people react with heart stopping, hold breath, jaw dropped, eyes wide open reactions…which was what I was doing.  Jennie is so desensitized to Craig’s little stunts that she was calm and giggly.  HAHAHAHA  (picture on right was his “after” shot)

Would you like to see the video clip?  …um, yes you do.  🙂

…and then on to looking awesome in more pictures…can’t even tell he’d fallen vertically out of a tree just 10 minutes previous.

One of their clothing picks was Royals shirts since they are fans and love going to games.  Low and behold, while we were out taking the images above (with the awesome sunset-sky), we noticed there was a baseball complex at the far end of the field with active night games going on.  We decided to be game-crashers.  Lucky for us, there were a couple fields not being used but were still lit up.

This was such a fun night.  Saturday is going to be AWESOME!
