More Fun with the Grosdidier Family

I think today was the IDEAL day for a family portrait session. The weather was perfect, there was sun and some clouds, and a happy family. The recipe for a great photo session.
This is Brandon & Charis Grosdidier and their two terrific kids, Makayla & Daniel (really hope I spelled those right…let me know Charis).

HOW CUTE IS THIS PICTURE!?!
Ok, I got these lollie-pops a few months ago, EAGERLY waiting for the right photo opp…and this was IT! And these two definitely deserved the tasty treat…they were AWESOME for the whole session.

I think this is my favorite picture of them all…I love all of them, but I always tend to lean closest to the pic that makes me laugh the most.
Thanks guys! Hope you like your “teaser”. 😉

CONGRATULATIONS, Jana & Trent Glass!!!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of photographing the lovely Mr. & Mrs. Glass!!!
It was a surprise to walk out the front door to find a steady rain shower…but that didn’t stop us from getting some AMAZING pics of the day! No sir, it didn’t! Our Photography-KungFu is strong.
Their wedding was held at the historic Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence. It was my first time there…next time I’ll be more prepared for parking (or lack there of). I had to talk the front desk into letting me charge Valet to my check card since I was cash-free…except for the $2 in quarters I scrounged up from my car.
This dress was made for Jana….she looked drop-dead-gorgeous in it.
Can you EVEN imagine how excited I was to find out she had hot pink heels for her wedding shoes?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Me and the shoes had ourselves a mini-photoshoot…there are more good ones to come.
Almost as awesome as the pink shoes is the flowers she had…Gerbera Daisies (my absolute fav flower of all time…and also what I used in my own wedding).
Who is that stud-muffin?…you might ask. That is my fabulous Groom, Trent.
And let’s not delay the pictures of Trent’s ol‘ lady (as he puts it). Nothin‘ but beauty, Jana was also easy as pie to photograph.

I really think ALL of these pictures need to be in a magazine somewhere!
See Barbie…I told you I’d put this on the blog just for you.
I might just be a little obsessed with the shoes…
Is this HOT, or is this HOOOOOTTTTT!
A little sweet lovin‘.

Here’s what Jana and Trent actually looked like when they weren’t rock-stars for the camera. Hot…literally.

This picture effect was actually a total accident…I was making adjustments in Photoshop and this happened and I thought it was wicked cool. Only wish I could remember how I did it. 🙁

This has to be one of my FAVORITES of the day. Ben (ring bearer) & Jordan (Flower girl) were SOOOOOOO CUTE!
And lets not forget Sofie.
…did I also mention I’m obsessed with elevator shots.

This was funny…in setting up for the wedding party to be announced into the reception, I told my assistant (Shawna…who did a terrific job), to stand off to the side and hold my flash up high in the air. Blocking her spot was this GIANT of a man (had to have been around 7 FEET tall). So rather than have my 5 foot assistant hold the light, I put the wedding guest to work and had him hold it for me. I’m sorry to say I didn’t catch his name, but THANK YOU whoever you are.
…oh…and I might mention that before actually being a help, he received payment by blinding my assistant for a good laugh. Hey, I was laughing…of course, I wasn’t the one seeing spots for an hour. 🙂
Now that they’re married, spousal abuse has begun. Jana, go easy on him.
Jana was waterworks all day…in a very good way. I love to see my Brides get sucked into the moment and let the emotions take over. This picture was taken as her maid of honor gave her toast to the newlyweds.

Last shot of the night and it had finally stopped raining.
Jana and Trent…thanks for letting me do my thing with you and your FUN & FABULOUS wedding party. You guys ROCK!

Congratulations Jenny & Al!!!!

OMG!!!! This was one HOT wedding…I mean that complimentary AND physically. JEZZZ, I bet it was 110 with the heat index. We ALL were melting…even inside with AC at full power. BUT, nontheless…we rocked it!
Al, being the romantic at heart…or just completely head over heals for Jenny…sent her some beautiful flowers and a note that put a smile on her face to last all day.
Awesome professional makeup job by Trisha McGovern (I believe she’s from Nordstroms).

Little spoon full of sugar

HOW BEAUTIFUL IS SHE!!!!
Her hair was absolutely amazing…something out of a magazine. And at the reception, the Bride when to the bathroom for just a few minutes and came back with her hair all the way in an updo that looked like it should have taken 3 hours! Her stylist friend is unbelieveably talented. * Stylist: Sarah from Shay-Belle’s (913) 441-9149

I was so excited to clear out the sanctuary for Jenny and Al to meet for the first time. Imagine how pissed I was to find out that as they were trying to have their special moment, the cranky church custodian come barging in and hassles them about my photography equipment setup. AS if that wasn’t bad enough, he had been going around to different members of family and bridal party trying to con them out of $20 for imaginary fees (like moving the piano…which was never moved). But, …besides the heat and the custodian, they had a smooth day, so it was just a hiccup.

Oooooo, AAaahhh.. Me like MUCHO.
Purrrr…. Aren’t they super sexy?!
OK…everyone pretty much knows that I am a sucker for humor (the fastest way to a girls heart)… and thus this is my favorite picture. I told them to pose for this picture thinking of themselves at executives at a table to sign the contract of their lives. 🙂
Another oooo ahhhh

How cute is this? EVERYONE had a camera.

I snapped this real quick before it was time for Jenny to come have a seat. hehehe
Last shot of the day…nice and romantic like I love it.
Thanks Jenny and Al…and all their family & friends. You have an amazing life together and I was honored to photograph your big day. Have fun in Cancun!!!!

Delays….I fear

I just wanted to let my clients, who are currently waiting on their picture collections or album designs, know that I am running more behind than usual. I apologize for the delay, and I’m working hard on playing catchup. Some of you already know that I am also in the middle of remodeling my new office/gallery space as well as testing, learning, and using new software stuff to keep my photography and computer skills up-to-date.

Thank you ALL for being patient. Hopefully you are still drooling over the “teasers” and excited to see more.

A New Ouchie for Niki

My daughter, who unfortunately inherited my clumsiness, ran into a door knob (she is the perfect height)…WHILE she had a Q-tip in her ear (a new item around our house that will now be kept hidden from her…along with scissors, mouthwash, perfume, nail polish…you name it, and she’s into it).

…which caused this:

…a ruptured eardrum. Oooowwwiee. Poor thing. Surprisingly though, she hasn’t complained about any pain…she’s my little tough girl. I’m just glad it didn’t happen to Tate, my son…that would be a different story. He’s my little Drama-King. 🙂

Here’s a cute picture of them both posing for me as I was setting up my lights for my latest session.
