Lots of love to all you mothers.

So, yesterday was mother’s day…but my stomach thought it was Thanksgiving and Christmas combined…GOOD LORD I ate a ton. It was one of those “unbutton your pants” type of days. First we (my family and I) had brunch with my Mimi, then we had lunch with my “adoptive” family (the Eudora gang), then we had dinner at my mom’s…And I think I had second helpings & dessert with each meal. YIKES!
This was a book my mom had at her house that is full of awesome, inspirational photography related to mothers.
Here’s a candid from the Karla & David Grosdidier…and all of their grandchildren.
Who’s their favorite grandparent?

Well, my first idea for this picture was all the kids on the ground and me looking down…but it was too sunny and made for some grumpy kids…so we flip-flopped it.

Courtesy of my lovely husband.
This was so cute of father & son.
Ok…I know it’s mother’s day, but these daddies were sooo adorable. Had to give them a little camera lovin‘.
Now…here’s a series of pictures of my youngest sister, Katie. The orange drink in her hand is supposed to be a “orange-cream-soda”…but little does she know, we switched it out with orange-dyed water & milk…yuk. So, I pretended to be practicing settings while capturing her first swig. We really are evil.

Late, the light was perfect and my sister needed some updated portraits…so we went over to the nearby park and I photographed Katie and her friend Shawna for a little while. It was actually a ton of fun…I think I got 9 bloopers for every 10 pictures.

Can you hear the music? “I’m a model, ya know what I mean…and I do it little dance on the catwalk…yea the catwalk…”
… “I’m too sexy for this umbrella, too sexy for this bridge….”

Here’s a cute one with all us girls and our mama.

Here’s my kids.
My sister, Amanda, took this one and I thought it was pretty cool with the original, out-of-camera motion effect.
This one, also by Amanda, not so good.
“Profile” + “Direct Flash” + “Unflattering laugh” = eeeeeeek!
I just included that one to show you…there is definitely an art to flattering photography and the wonderful world of photoshop.

Soooo Proud of my Mommy!!!!

Last Saturday, my Mother graduated with her first college degree…crazy her, she wants to go back for some more. 🙂 She told me a few years back that she had three goals for herself…1) Buy a house 2) Go back to college 3) Learn how to fly an airplane. She’s now crossed two of those things off that list… but I think she’s since decided against the third goal after having a plane door flap open during flight. hehehe, I wish there’d been a camera to capture her facial reaction to that.
As usual, the ceremony to graduations can last a lot longer than a 3-year-old’s patience…so we got creative on ways to entertain her. 🙂
My mom’s fabulous husband was thoughtful enough to surprise her with a DQ ice-cream cake….which everyone was drooling over!
And since I’m her favorite (yeah, that’s right sistas…ME!), I got her something extra special…shiny, pink lined photo snaptote purse…with two amazing models (my children).
I know….aaahhhhhhhh
And this is how my family likes to pose. Aren’t we just the most beautiful group of women you ever did see?
Mom…congratulations! You deserve the very best and I’m so proud of you for making your dreams come true. You have the power to do anything you put your mind to….G, I wonder who taught me that? I love you. Signed, your FAVORITE

Congratulations Dorothy & Alex!

My shy, quiet couple from the consultation turned out to be bursting with character. Oh my gosh, I had so much fun with this crowd…and why wouldn’t I, they’re Zoolander fans too!
These guys were so cool, they did everything I asked…even this.

HUBBA HUBBA!!!
This is Alex and his daughter…he treated her and his new wife like the Princess & Queen they are. Silly Princess
STSSSSSS! HOT!
This was a special moment as Dorothy’s father surprised her with an antique family watch, of great importance, now passed down to her.

There were tears….
Beautiful.
The restrooms were my absolute favorite spot at Stony Point. This one was shot in the ladies restroom.

This one too.

We waited a while to clear out the Mens restroom…but I broke the rules and went in myself.
This one was cracking me up…not only because these guys are too cute, but there was a guy in the stall behind them that just couldn’t wait for us to finish.
Another restroom shot.

Oh, and I walked in on the girls brushing their teeth a few minutes before the ceremony was set to start. A girl’s gotta have fresh breath.

This was during the ceremony and since their union included the three of them, they included their daughter into the ceremony by giving her a symbol of their love.

This one cracks me up.

Long exposure captured all the mood lighting.
This is my first time shooting at Stony Point Hall and I LOVE IT! Not only is this place awesome for photography and completely stress-free for wedding planning, but I met the owners last night and they are great people. Good ownership goes a long way.
Alex and his daughter win “THE DANCE MOVE” of the evening.
Riding off in style.
Dorothy & Alex, congratulations & have fun in Mexico!

E-Mail/Internet Issues…?

On Tuesday I found out that my printing lab technician had emailed me twice (confirmed correct email address) and I never receive those emails.
Today I had a client tell me she emailed me last night…and I never received that email as well. My internet modem has been acting a little flaky for the past few weeks, and today it went out completely (people who know me well know that is a very big thing…I’m a web junkie). I found out from my internet provider that my whole area was down for maintenance and upgrades.
I haven’t a clue if this has anything to do with emails not received, but I’m trying to monitor as best I can. If you have emailed me recently without a response, please retry or give me a call. I am very sorry for the inconvenience…I’m at the mercy of my modem and provider. I’m hoping things are restored.

Crazy Photoshoppers!

I thought this was ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL so I had to share…I was telling my friend Debbie how, in Dallas, I learned how to distort and enhance people in their portraits…you know, a little double-chin removal here, a little belly reducer there…so just a little bit ago she sent me her creative enhancement of me.
To which I laughed so hard I’m sure she could here me from where she lived.

But then I thought…I need to get her back.

So here is my creative enhancement of her.

I have been soooo busy and stressed, that this is exactly what I needed today. Thanks Debbie!
