Kansas City Family: Wonderful Wall Family

Gave my camera some more Wall Family lovin’ last weekend!  I do love this family.  They are everything you think a family should be…laughs & love!

Beware of Lions. This little face was made for black-n-white photography! The umbrella was not a planned prop…it started raining on us very soon after starting our lovely morning session.  Luckily their umbrella is colorful and awesome!  Makes for a great prop! Can I just say, I don’t miss having to always tote around a stroller.  Their double-kid stroller, I was told, was over 50lbs without anything in it.  Supplies + Kid(s) + pushing uphill = a mean photographer walking behind, laughing, and taking pictures. HAHAHAHA  Hey!  I did my time.  Now I get to enjoy watching everyone else going through it. 🙂LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ONE!!!!  Probably my favorite shot I’ve ever taken of the Wall Family.  It’s simply beautiful.  Ok, and THIS is my favorite shot of the Brothers!!!!!  How cute is THIS?!?!?!!I love this new metal tree sculpture.  I saw it being constructed back in April and had a flashback of that children’s book, The Giving Tree (one of the best children’s books of all time).   And I thought it would be neat to photograph a young child under this tree throughout the years….watching the child grow.  So, this is the beginning of a long series with David & Isaac.  Again, it’s worth mentioning that Nicole and Steve make the cutest babies!  AND they’re HAPPY babies.  I love Isaac’s smile.  It’s contagious…especially with that little tooth showing.

Kansas City Family: Hengler Family

Kevin + Trish + Crosby = Fun with Lines

We had originally planned our session for the West Bottoms, but when they arrived and I saw their super awesome clothing choices, I had to switch it up.  Having just done an earlier session at Bartel Hall, I knew that location would be so much more perfect…and it was!  It was all about the lines.

This is my second time shooting Crosby, and am fascinated by his animation.  He has sooooooo many facial expressions.  This is a new one.  Really look at this image and tell me what it resembles….Trish & Kevin call that his “E.T.” face.  SO FUNNY!!!! 🙂I don’t know why, but I kept going back to this image when picking through them for the blog.  Made me laugh out loud each and every time I clicked on it.  Kevin’s facial expression.  🙂  By the way, this is Kevin, of 49th Street Photo, super talented KC photog!  I love shooting other photogs and their families.

Kansas City Engagement: Brian & Maureen & PDF (huh?)

UPDATE:  Please check out Sarah Rimel Photography’s Blog for the second eye to this session at http://www.rimelphoto.com/blog/2011/08/brian-maureen-engagement-portraits/

As many of you who know me…I speak the “Christie” Language.  That means I usually talk pretty fast, say exactly what comes to mind, most times don’t make sense, and totally expect people to understand what I’m saying.  🙂

Poor Brian and Maureen…I was speaking the “Christie” language pretty thick at 7am Sunday morning.  Early on, I asked them if they were good with PDF…and got the old head-tilt-to-the-side-what-is-she-talking-about-? look.  What I MEANT, was PDA (Public Display of Affection…KISSING).  I’m sure Brian was immediately going through his memory trying to remember if I had recently sent him a PDF via email. HAHAHA  Oh…there just is no excuse for me.  I blame it on my mother.  Everything has been her fault since I was 13.  🙂

On to the good stuff…Maureen + Brian!  And some PDA. 🙂

Love me some naturally blue skies!  Makes for a killer background!BAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!  Thank you to my good pal, Sarah Rimel, of Sarah Rimel Photography for helping me out with this session.  We walked past this bright orange wall section, and she gave me a look and said “Really? You’re just going to walk past this?”  Orange is my main business branding color…I have 4 orange purses, one BRIGHT orange wall in my home, orange boxes, t-shirts, socks, wall decor…orange orange orange…and I passed the wall.  REWIND!  Sarah showed me the error of my ways and thus we stopped and got some KILLER images.  THANK YOU SARAH!!!!  THANK YOU RANDOM ORANGE WALL!!!!  I love Math:

Maureen + Brian + Kansas City + 7 am with 3 alarm clocks + coffee + Sarah Rimel = FABULOUS-NESS!!!!

Kansas City Business: Just Between Friends Sale

Got Kids?

Get Just Between Friends.

I’ve been hearing all the rave about the JBF sale for some time, but this was my first time attending.  This is a brilliant idea….and it’s only getting bigger and better as it goes along.

This was the scene this past weekend at the KCI Expo Center’s Just Between Friends Sale.

This was the scene at their “Preview” night…already people were lined up at the door, eager to get shoppin’.And for good reason.  They had EVERYTHING!!!!  I was amazed!  It was like Babies R US, Toys R US…at a super small fraction of the cost.  Why wasn’t this around when my kinds were little?

Kansas City Seniors: Happy Hailee!!!

“Save the cheerleader.  Save the world.” – from the TV series, Heros

Hailee is

fun. captivating. smart. friendly. beautiful.

An absolute treat for my camera.

Peterpan’s shadow gave the inspiration for this one…although, now looking at it, it sort of reminds me of the Michael Jordan logo. So, she had these awesome boots that immediately reminded me of Toy Story.   I really really really wanted to get her name on the bottom side…but we had no pen. ENTER MacGyver. I used a rock, and keep scratching it on concrete to slowly, but surely, write her name and 2012 on them.  Like I said… Absolute TREAT!  Thank you Thank You Hailee for being my rock star model…during the A.M. even! 🙂
