When we lived on the Kansas side, our favorite place to take the kids was Deanna Rose Petting Zoo. We still go occasionally, but it has definitely been a while since our last visit. That place has really grown. I guess my kids have, too.

With Ashley’s strength replenished and wedding clothes back on, we headed out for round two….or if you include the engagement session, this is round three and we could call this a full Trilogy.
We started out at 1p. For those fellow photogs out there, you know sun direct in sky, no clouds, Mid August day…not exactly preferred portrait session conditions. So we decided to make our first stop down in the bottoms. As we were looking for a place to park, we discovered there was a car show in place. Not just any car show…The pimpest of all pimped out rides in Kansas City. Let’s just say we stuck out like a sore thumb walking around with a Bride & Groom.
We made some friends: Joe & June Bug. They hooked Kyle up with some ice cool Coronas. Total sweethearts! Then on for more fun. I guess since Matt works everyday with Kyle, he has gotten close to him….literally. His view.

We were getting some last shots in and I went in for some more close-ups…when I noticed this. WHOA! HE didn’t even know. Major heat rash.

On my way to Edgerton, KS to photograph the extended Kieffer Family, I saw this along the way and deemed it worth of me to get out of the car to snap a shot of. I love special treasures like this. Makes me smile. Here’s a crazy shot of this ginormous family! 9 siblings and their family!!! WHOA! At least they all get along and know how to have a good time. 🙂 7 sisters…who’s mom’s favorite? Had to share a super cool pic of these super cool dudes. Pulling up to Theresa & Chris’s house, I see this fantastically dressed mannequin holding a beer can. I LOVE when people decorate with humor!!!! So, we took advantage of the scenery. Not just fake Hula girls around there…three real cute mini-hula girls.
Finally! The big day! A little hot, a little sunny…ok, maybe a lot hot, and a lot sunny, but it was a day worth fighting the elements. Kyle and Ashley have become good friends of ours over the last several months….so this was icing on the cake to be their photographers.
How cute is this! This is….um…Kyle’s sexy dance…I think…haha Did I mention Kyle is an artist? Take note of “America’s Most Wanted” guy on the left. 🙂 I think these were happy tears. Ashley was sick and fighting an upset stomach ALL day, but she was also very happy and anxious to become Mrs. Lackey.
Not to brag…but, yeah…WOW! How awesome is the shot?!!! Taken under the dreaded flourecent lighting, but it turned out to be my absolute favorite shot of Ashley. Go time…this was right before the ceremony started. Scene: Ashley leaves dressing room to walk down isle. Exit scene. Daddy walking her to her Groom. …there were tears…guess from who. 🙂

When ya gotta go, ya gotta go…
Soooo, I had to climb up on this crazy concrete thing for this shot…but because the sun was beating down on one side, I had to scoot around all the way. Ever so graceful. Documentation of it, thanks to Kyle. Which, by the way, the next day I discovered the back of my legs were covered in bruises. I know two newlyweds who better love these shots.
Since Kyle is such a film fanatic, and a fabulous videographer, he got the idea a while back to recreate movie posters for his reception. Took some time to and effort to get the details and pull it off…but I was pretty impressed when I saw them all hanging up around the reception room. Pretty Sweet! First Dance as Mr. & Mrs. Lackey. Time to party…
Thriller. I would expect nothing less at Kyle’s reception. If Ashley would have been feeling better, I would have totally made it my mission to get her to moon-walk. She does it perfect!
Last shot to share is of a naughty little flower girl. Hahaha.. I look over at one point and Niki is sitting by Matt looking gloomy. I asked what was wrong and Matt said she was in time-out. Apparently (which I missed), Matt looked over and discovered Niki was table dancing. Yes. She climbed up on a formally decorated table and was boogieing down. I swear she didn’t learn that from me. 🙂 Right now, Kyle and Ashley are in California on their honeymoon, but I want to give them a shout out. Congratulations on getting hitched! Here’s a few little movie clips that I thought were interesting and wanted to share.
This weekend was packed with fun and excitement as two of our friends got hitched. A while back, Ashley and Kyle had asked if Niki could be the flower girl….to which I bit my lip and said yes. Wasn’t sure how my 5-yr-old-super-duper-hyper child would act…afraid to be known as the parent of THAT kid. …but at the rehearsal, all went well. She presented herself as quite the little professional flower girl. I’m thinking I should start adding her services to my business. haha
Anyway, here’s some fun shots from the rehearsal dinner. These first ones are of Kyle and his newest baby. It’s not a Canon, but it’s super cool (did I just say that?). The camera itself is waterproof. Neat.
So…after a while…Niki started getting a little crazy…as demonstrated in this pic. I played the “emergency” card and do what I always do to help keep her focused and productive….I give her my point-n-shoot. It’s become less of a camera to me, and more of a toy to her. Whatever keeps her busy… Check out her nails…I did that. 🙂 …ok, the camera calms her a little, but she’s still crazy. Here is her attacking Kyle’s sister. Notice how close she likes to snap people.
