For all those who actually just took the time to read that whole thing, I just wanted to be honest and admit that I didn’t write it.  It was a standard press release, given to me by Wedding Wire, that plugs my business information in the required sections.  That, also, many other professionals locally and nationally have received the very same award.  That is not to say that it doesn’t count for anything.  It’s actually a really great way to recognize those elite businesses that have had many happy customers go onto weddingwire.com and endorse their services/products for future customers to experience.  I can’t be positive how they determine the score, but I think the company must have only 5 star ratings.  The rating system on Weddingwire is one of the better ones I personally know of because it is free, public, and does not require a membership to view (for customer or business). What does this mean? you might ask… I’m no expert but I’ll share a little secret I do know to be true…businesses that spent $$$$ advertising on websites have the ability to remove negative ratings from those advertising sites (btw, I’ve never done that).  That’s not fair! you say… I agree.  That’s not to say that there are good businesses out there who have received an unreasonable customer or crazy foe posing as an unsatisfied customer.  However, it also means that businesses either offering bad service/products OR who made a big mistake they didn’t own up to, can be potentially unknown.  What are you trying to say, Christie? you might wonder… I firmly believe that a good business is one that genuinely cares about being a good business.  It’s as simple as that.  Wedding Wire offers a rating system based on Quality of Service, Responsiveness, Professionalism, Value for Cost, and Flexibility.  A good business must strive for greatness in all of those categories, but also genuinely want their clients to have an enjoyable experience.  Why are you telling us this business secret? you ask…. Because whenever I make an important purchase (camera, equipment, garage doors…etc), I like to go online for research.  I usually take into consideration quality of ratings, quantity of ratings, detailed consumer comments, and any expert reviews if any.   Knowing what I know about advertising and rating systems, I tend to be critical as to how I allow that research to influence my decision to purchase.  Ex:  A couple years ago I purchased a small 4″x6″printer.  When researching some products, I saw many negative ratings given by people who did not understand that a regular compact camera produces images with a 4:3 ratio…which means that the image will be cropped to fit a 4″x6″ print.  Some products had low scores just because of what people did not know to be true and standard among products of that category.  In that particular research, reading the comments in connection to low scores was very beneficial to deciding which product to purchase.

Ok…I feel like I’m rambling. Here’s my conclusion: I am a fan of Wedding Wire and its ability to provide a way for consumers and businesses to share their experiences, and am honored to be given a 2011 Bride’s Choice Award.

Annual Photo Contest: Images of 2010

The shiny new year means many things to many people.  To us, it’s most often a time to reflect on the year previous.  So, for the second year in a row (fun new tradition) it is our pleasure to reflect on all the wonderful people we’ve had in front of our cameras by presenting our Annual Photo Contest.  The images selected (which were tough to pick) are our absolute favorite from each session and wedding of 2010.  We invite you to take a look and vote on your favorite of our favorites.  The exact image with the most votes will be made into a stunning 20″x30″ Canvas Gallery Wrap-around and be given to those clients in the image.  The runner up will receive a 10″x15″ Standout Mount Metallic Print.  Voting Ends on February 22nd, 2011 at the magical hour of 11:59pm CST.

Kansas City Portraits: Newborn Isabelle

Isabelle actually scheduled to be born on Friday by C-section…to which I had planned on visiting the hospital Saturday with my handy-dandy camera.  As luck should have it, Isabelle decided to come a day early, and on the same night I happened to contract a nasty little 36hr stomach virus.  However, because it was cesarean, they were at the hospital a bit longer…and my virus was done and over with just in time for a Sunday morning visit.

While on the way to the hospital that morning, I found it amusing that the radio station I was listening to randomly started talking about baby names and popularity.  According to them, “Isabelle” is the second most popular girl baby name of 2009 and has only dropped a few levels for popularity in 2010.  Damn that Twilight series! 🙂  Can’t say I blame the world…Isabelle is a very beautiful name….and it definitely matched this baby girl.  She’s 100% beautiful!  Just like her older sister.

Awww…Abigail is already taking on a caring role of older sister….

…and teaching her all the good behaviors.

NO, NO!  NOT THE BUNNY!!!!! ANYTHING BUT THE BUNNY!!!

(at least that’s what I think she’s saying here)

Kansas City Portraits: Very Valencia

Valencia is the sweetest, most talented little girl, who I recently had the privilege of photographing.  Her super awesome skills in modeling and acting have caught the eye of talent agents and audition judges. …so guess who got to take her super awesome ZED card pictures?  MEEEE!!!!

There is something so simple and stunning about this picture that I can’t stop looking at it.

This was taken that weekend that was SOO SOOOO COLD a couple weeks ago.  We had to brave high winds, well-below-freezing temperatures, and a random dog on the loose.  BUT we got it….then ran back to the car lightning fast.

This is the look my daughter gives me when I start telling her stories that start with “when I was your age…”

Best of luck to Valencia as she goes and shows off her mad skills to Disney.

Kansas City Portraits: Terrific Tristan, 6 months old!

Oh my sweet potato pie…Tristan is one hunk of baby goodness.  I had the pleasure of photographing this little guy on Saturday.  Isn’t he a doll?!

It’s been a while since my kiddos were this young, but I recognize this look.  6 months old = TEETHINGGGGG 🙂

This image reminds me of all the super cool babies I’ve photographed that have super cool hair.  …which in turn reminds me of what my son looked like as a baby.  Poor kid had a skullet for the first year of his life. hahahahahahahahahaha  Lucky for Tristan, he’s rockin’ an awesome do.

Did I mention he was teething? hehe  Mom’s sweater was put to good use.

Thanks Nate and Briana for coming from afar and fitting in a portrait session while you’re in town!  Hope you have a fabulous visit to KC.
