Kansas City Wedding: LOOK OUT WORLD! Mr. & Mrs. Nelson are official!

Ah finally, I get to update this post to add a few more awesome pictures and storytell about Adam and Carly’s fabulous day.  Good news or bad news first?  Well…only slighly bad news.  It rained…and rained…which would make the 2nd wedding day this year for me to be disappointed with Mother Nature for not allowing me more outdoor time.  It is actually only the 5th wedding day in my whole wedding photography career to rain most of the day.  So, I guess with those odds, I shouldn’t complain.  And besides, the rain didn’t stop us from making photo-fabulousness!  I knew it wouldn’t.  Carly and Adam are two kool kats and are infectious with happiness all the way around.  Ya just can’t go wrong.

Oh how I love to photograph the sparklies!

And how I do admire beautiful shoes…and the talent it takes to walk in them.  I don’t possess that talent. 🙁

Carly is beautiful inside and out, no doubt, but it does make me slightly more jealous to know that she’s super smart, stylish, and crafty.  She made these for her parents…sooooo sweeeeeet!

Couldn’t resist showing off the morning crowd.

Ok, so in going through all the many many images taken that morning…I came across this one…which at first glance is a cute image.  Then of course, the focus is drawn to the baby’s t-shirt…which is more cuteness……THEN, Matt (sitting next to me, desperately trying to help me limit my blog teaser pics) pointed out Adam’s (Daddy’s) shirt, to which I busted out a hard laugh.  OH MY!  How in the world did I not notice his shirt that day?!  SSSSooooo funny!

The humor doesn’t there.  Oh no.  Carly had mentioned that she had left behind some cucumber eye stuff for Adam to use that morning.  Knowing my hubby and trusting him to capture ALL the photo goodness, just knew he’d get a shot of it.  Well done, love.  And Adam, you’re a great sport, have I told you that?

Another sneaky shot by Matt.  I had to look twice at this picture, because at first glance he appears to be wearing boxers.  Nope…it’s just the dress up footings that throw me off.

Lucky for Carly, she’s marrying quite the match to her craftiness.  He had bought some super nice cufflinks for his dad, but when it came time to use them, discovered that their shirts didn’t have a spot for them.  Never fear.  Scissors are near.  (I better hurry with this storytelling before the Dr. Seuss in me breaks out full force!)

LOVED the guest book!!! maybe I’m partial because of the images used. 🙂

Adam wins the “MOST EXCITED TO SEE HIS BRIDE FOR THE FIRST TIME” award.  He looked like Christmas morning.

Carly said she teared up when she first saw Adam.  And then Adam teared up when she gave him his special gift. hahahaha

A random question mark in the background.  Love the hidden humor.

Did I mention that Carly is a HOT BABE!?!  Adam quite studly himself.  (where did this surfer talk come from?)

We had to run back inside as the sky was spitting on us…but Matt stayed behind and got this great shot of the church…which I love that red-door-stone-church.  It is very wedding cute.

Couldn’t resist the reflected fun.

🙂

BTW, I told him to strike this pose.  Both baby and daddy were quite joyful the whole day…but doesn’t this image make you think of The Hangover movie just a little? hahahahahahahaha

I love wedding parties that are so willing to go the extra mile…I bet it felt like a mile for some of those girls to walk up all those stairs, many in heels.  And it was shivering cold outside.  Thank you everyone!

Ooooohhhhh yeahhhhh!  The party has officially started!

Is that not a wicket awesome scene!!!!  I’m pretty fond of that new Kauffman Center for Performing Arts building.  It looks pretty bad @$$!

Oh my…this room…this couple…this stunning!

And yes…ring shot.  I’ll admit, I was tempted to run off with Carly’s ring.  It BLINDED with the sparkle factor.  (FYI, I left the dust on purpose.  Seemed fitting for the old-fashion hotel feel).

Carly & Adam, I hope you have an awesome honeymoon adventure. Congrats!

Kansas City Baby: Irresistible Issac

Well…Issac was an eager beaver, so I never did get a chance to photograph him at the hospital.  If I remember right, he was born over a month premature.  And of course, around the time I had a slight chance of getting to peak at him in the hospital, Niki (my kiddo) had gotten sick and I didn’t want to risk spreading any germs.  So last week was my first time ever seeing the beautiful addition to Nicole and Steve’s family.  Am I a little jealous that this second baby is just as perfect as their first?  YES!!!!  SO jealous. 🙂

Here’s perfect baby #1.  Oh my holy chicken…he’s already 18 months!  Ridiculous how time flies.

No, this is not just a shot of an ordinary basket of clothes.  This basket is filled with clean cloth diapers…I think Nicole said it was a 3-day supply.  Considering how many times I watched them change diapers in the amount of time I was there…I would have to argue the 3 day part.  More like 3-hours.  Hahaha.. Diaper changes are definitely part of the baby-duties I don’t miss.  Well worth the ultimate product though.  THE CHILDREN…NOT THE POOP!!!  Get your head out of the toilet. hahahahahahahaha

Kansas City Family: Can Morgan be persuaded?

This would be my second session with this awesome family.  They don’t live ’round here, so it’s been a long time coming that I could see them again.  In fact, I think that Morgan was 2yrs old or less…and poor Kevin & Kelly spent most of the session trying to console her.  (I’m a scary photographer…makin’ kids cry left and right, hahaha)  So, a few months ago, Kevin calls me and tells me Morgan LOVES being in front of the camera now and she’s going to rock this session.  Naturally, I’m pumped!  They had a great idea for a signature shot, involving Morgan and her “future decision”…so I was super excited.  I pulled up to meet them, get out of the car, and instantly hear Morgan crying.  Ah, MAN!  But as luck would have it, she wasn’t scared of me…she had on “cute shoes”, which tend to also be “ouchie shoes”.  A mere shoe change and we were off to go modeling!  I absolutely LOVE her smile.

And as for Morgan’s “future decision”….Daddy went to K-State, Mommy went to KU…What will she do?  🙂

Kevin has told me this is exactly Morgan’s reaction to that question.  HOW CUTE!!!

Thanks Kevin and Kelly for making the long drive!  More photo-goodness to come. 🙂

Kansas City Baby: Lovin’ Luke

I have to admit, on the way over to our session today, I was rehearsing meeting the new 12-day-old baby boy by saying “Luuuuuuke…I AM YOUR FOTOGRAPHER…” hahaha.  I know…I know…I’m a total geek.  I admit it.

Just as I expected, he was sooooooooo beautiful.  …and sporting an awesome new crib (delivered just the night before…NFM, sure took their sweet time!).  I was especially excited about the crib set and wall color.  It was all so perfect that we didn’t even have to leave the room for the whole session.

Strrrrrreeeeeeetttcccchhhhhh

I am in LOVE with this shot!!!!  Makes me want a baby so bad…but I must remind myself…we are done.  And I’m privileged to be able to photograph other people’s beautiful creations.

Katelynn and I played peek-a-boo and silver-circle-light-reflector-attack A LOT! 🙂  Which was awesome, because I hardly ever have used that reflector in the decade I’ve owned it.  It definitely got it’s use today.

This picture caught my eye and I’m quite fond of it.  I guess because it reminds me of my own family.  The way Michelle is tending to Luke and Mike is tending to Katelynn…that is sooooo Matt and I with our kids.  It is always a team effort to keep up with homework, cleaning, bed-time…etc.

I promise that Katelynn is as sweet as can be, and we got along so great today…but I caught this random picture of her giving me the “stink-eye”. hahahahahahaha  I couldn’t resist sharing.

How cute is this blanket & sleeper combo?!?!?!

Not sure how or why, but doesn’t it look like Luke is giving me a “Baldwin” look?  I think so, too. 🙂

I worked hard to get a good detail shot of Luke’s hand, and this one is the winner.  I love the way his fingers are curled.  Reminds me of a surfer’s wave.  And I am so pleased with my new Canon 100mm macro…the full quality image is sooooo crisp and sharp, you can see the ridges of his hand skin so perfectly.

Kansas City Wedding: Anh & Brian are purpl-iciously married!

Long awaited by Anh & Brian’s family and friends (and I mean loooooong), the wedding day finally arrives…and it is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-LL!!!!  Seriously, the weather was that of every Bride’s dreams.

Ok…all future Brides out there…check this out.  Anh had told me that she was preparing for everything and put together a little emergency kit.  …she wasn’t playing around.

Brian also prepared for everything…wait, I mean everyone. 🙂  Here’s how gullible I am…one of the groomsmen asks me to pass him the big bottle in the cooler next to me.  So as I do, I realize how GIGANTIC the bottle is and let out a gasp.  The groomsmen says, “oh, it’s just water.  We refilled it.”  …I totally believed him…thinking if I had a ginormous bottle of Grey Goose, I might save and refill with water just to mess with people too.  Then later I’m watching everyone on the trolley cheers their wine/shot glasses with this so-called-water.  Then not much later after that, everyone is laughing much harder and quite happily passing around the famous water.  …hummmm….I don’t think that groomsmen was very truthful with me. 😉

This was my very first time to witness a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony, and it was a very humbling experience.  Family is defined by such events.  To see so many people come together, give gifts, give blessings, give witness…it was a very personal celebration that can be seen on everyone’s face who attended.

I couldn’t help but share this image…it was so fitting of the moment.  Matt and I had both tried our hand at grabbing a shot of this little boy in the white suit…each time only able to catch the back of his head as he sped off.  So, I thought it was hilarious when this little girl just grabbed him, spun around, and we went trigger happy with our cameras. hahahahahaha  Poor little guy.  He has this look on his face like “what’s going on?!?!!”

This one CRACKS ME UP!!!!!  First of all I LOVE all these girls!  Anh has an awesome group of friends.  Second of all, what you see here is her girls blowing her kisses while she’s supposed to be catching the kisses. hahahahahahahahahahahaha  I think it’s much much funnier to us girls who were there…so this one’s for you girls. :))))

And Brian…don’t you know it’s not nice to kick beautiful girls? hehe

Again, Anh’s friends are so awesome…especially Nikky..she is always there to lend a helping hand. 😉 (and yes, I realize that was totally cheesy).

Not water. 🙂

Two images to show how windy it was.
