Jake + Kristin + Abby = Sunshine on a cloudy day

It was chilly, breezy, and moist out, but Jake, Kristin, and Abby brought the sunshine (corney, I know…).  I haven’t seen these guys in forever, so I was excited the rain held off.

A classic!

She’s giving me “the look”.  hahahaha

…and she’s giving the nasty fence “the tongue”…YUK!

Thanks Jake & Kristin for a really good day and good eats (even though I really broke my diet…time for situps).

The Mixx with a Mix

Erin Daugherty is a super sweet and talented aspiring photographer and college student who found Sarah Rimel on google (big surprise there…she’s got an in with them) and asked to meet for a photography chat and Sarah decided to invite Christina Sandberg and myself along for the ride (what was she thinking! hahaha).  Erin had a great portfolio and had a friendly personality…good things to have for portrait photography.

I had just received my rented 45mm TS lens and was eager to play around with it.  Apparently so was Sarah since she amused herself by snapping pictures of me while I talked (which was pretty much the whole time).  I look so funny when I talk.  I made sure to get some of them as well…Sarah has beautiful hands, don’t you think? I wonder if she was showing of her ring…in case she thought I was after her….but I already know she’s got that google guy on the side. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Serious Christie I arrived an hour late (not uncommon with me to dinner events), so my dinner at The Mixx was a glass of wine and chocolate glutton-free cupcake (which was surprisingly heavenly).  I loved that place though and plan to go back sometime soon, for sure.

Up early with Eva, Sofia, & Zach

Eva, a cousin who I haven’t seen in many many years, wanted a really awesome session to include personalized images for herself and two kiddos (Zach & Sofia)…little did I know at the time that would mean having to get up at the butt-crack of dawn.  Getting up before the sun is something I do about twice a year, and usually for photography or a plane flight…but it is well worth it for either purpose.  For our particular purpose, we were desperately trying to grab some images of Zach (soccer player extraordinaire) at the really-super-state-of-the-art-fantastic-massive Overland Park Soccer Complex before the place filled up.  We started just after 7a and it was already hard finding a field not crowded.  Soccer folk are CRAZY if you ask me. 🙂  I thought I could impress him with my veteran soccer playing skills…   nope.  I almost forgot to post this…it was sooooooooo funny.  We tried sooooo hard to get some high jump kick action shots, but Matt and I pretty much SUCK at throwing the ball right.  Poor Zach indulged our failures.  After about 20 tries, I finally just switched to video mode.  Had to capture it. 🙂 hahahahahahaha
Yea…the sun was pretty bright already.  hahaha I love her sweet little face.  It reminds me of all the cute little girls in this world that dance around in princess dresses while their mothers savor the moment.  Remember this face, Eva, in about 10 years when she’s begging for shopping money and to stay out late. Eva, you are STUNNING!  I love everything about this picture.  …and this one, too.  Ug!  I feel like the genetics in our family just didn’t get passed around evenly.  I got shorted. hahahahaThis one too a while, and is the reason for blog delay…but sooooo awesome.  It looks amazing in vibrant color, but the sepia-old look just looked so dramatic I had to post it instead.  Eva, you’ve proved your pro modeling abilities with standing so still.  You did PERFECT!

Third time’s a charm. Meet Ava!

Karen is a baby making machine!  She’s had two handsome boys and now she has her world complete with a brand new sweet baby girl.  AND, it just so happened that I arrived at the hospital and started snapping off pictures when she was exactly 24 hours old.  SCORE cool points for me!  AND, this time NO speeding ticket!  DOUBLE cool points!

She’s absolutely perfect!  Nicely done Karen & Jason!  Thank you for supplying the world with another lovely baby.  You guys ROCK!

Erin + Marc + Austin = Fantastico!

This past Friday, I woke up and eagerly turned on Fox 4 news in the morning (my favorite!…I have a thing for Don Harmon).  Just as I predicted (never trust the weather forecasts farther out than 6 hours)…the rain would clear out by the time my afternoon session started.  And it did.  Although, it was a bit chillier than I anticipated.  Poor Austin was shivering for the beginning of our camera time…but became much warmer when he changed into his favorite superhero. …but first, a warm-up of climbing into a tree. 🙂

I couldn’t resist…  I KNOW Erin is crackin’ up right now!!!!

Erin, I thought this one looked more like he was holding a saw. 😉

Erin & Marc are getting married pretty soon, in June!  WHOA!  The time has sort of sped up all the sudden with Spring’s arrival.  Anyway, I’m looking forward to more of this super-kali-fabu-listic family!
