Full moon at the Nelson with Jen & Brian

Since our awesome second portion the engagement session a few weeks ago turned out to be a fail (including rain, thunder, lightning, no Bloch building light, and complete with getting soaked with lawn sprinklers), I just couldn’t give up my hopes of a night session with the Nelson.  And of course, secretly, I just wanted to see Jen & Brian again. :)))  Here’s our second attempt…WAY better weather, and we even got lucky with a full moon.  Jen & Brian were so happy, they kissed the moon.  hahaha

Jen…I love your sexy hair!

Princess ZARA!!!! Finally!!!!

The day I have been waiting for excitedly for almost 2 months now, ZARA has finally been born and delivered to my camera! 🙂  Here she is 5 days old…which is perfect for some newborn action.  She is one tiny, perfect little creature.

There are two things I know quite well about Zara.  One:  She doesn’t like being naked.  Two:  She HATES things on her head (as shown below). hahahahaha

Considering Stacey and Josh’s style…I saw this big cup, had the hat already, and thought together it would make a sort of “Alice & Wonderland” type of image.  🙂  Makes me want to go to Disney World and ride in the tea cups.

And the beautiful family all together.  Anyone who’s seen the “Wedding” and/or “Fun In The Dress” galleries on the website might recognize this couple.  Stacey was the “Dumpster Diving” Bride!!!  Yes…it seems like only yesterday we were at the West Bottoms and tossing her in a dumpster for some pictures. hahahahaha

Zara’s name means Princess…and I had recently seen a pic of her nursery on Facebook and it was “Princess” themed…so the night before the session (I wish my mind would think these things up faster and give me ample time to prepare), I came up with a cute idea that would be just perfect for a unique Zara portrait. I woke up early, was out the door to go shopping for a few items, and discovered that many stores do not open until 10am on weekday mornings.  I don’t think I’ve ever tried to shop that early, so I had no idea.  Good thing Hobby Lobby is up early and had everything I needed.  🙂

Love the combo of the pacifier and dress, don’t you?  These pictures were taken right after the completion of our fabulous concept series…which I haven’t finished editing yet…but I just wanted to get these up and posted to show off Zara right away.  More coolness to come!

Brandon + Pooja + Pot-holes = Session Adventure

Where do I begin!  The session started out and ended great…but from point A to point B, I managed to hit a super deep pot hole in the road that sent my hubcap rolling on into traffic.  Nice.  Never fear, BRANDON WAS THERE!  Such a sweet guy…he popped right out of the car and got it for me.  If my camera hadn’t been in the trunk, I SOOOO would have taken footage of it.  🙁  Just a reminder to always keep one camera handy for life’s little funny surprises.

Back to Brandon & Pooja…which are such a CUTE CUTE couple!  In chatting with them throughout the session, I can completely tell that they know each other better than they know themselves.  That is such a sweet quality.  They are totally matched for each other.  And I think it really shows in the pictures.

This one was hilarious…I couldn’t resist.  Poor Pooja..

This was their signature shot with two of their childhood teddys and two that Brandon gave to Pooja.  Awwww….SO SO CUTE!

…except they were camera shy…

I’ve got that song in my head “I NEED A HERO…”

and yet again…we find the perfect location with a couple wrong turns and getting a little lost.  hehe

How perfect is this?!?!  Pooja found this little area on the train and as soon as I saw it I KNEW it would make a kickass multi shot!  I just love to work on these and when it’s aaaaallllll done, sit back in my chair and just spend several minutes admiring the imagery.  Soooo awesome!!!!

Thanks Pooja & Brandon for a wonderful adventure!  (and for putting up with my car issues). hahahaha Counting down the days!

My Best Friend gets married

For many months now I have been preparing myself for this past weekend.  My best friend Sarah met her match, Brian, a few years ago and they were pretty perfect for each other.  It wasn’t exactly a shock when she said that they were planning on getting married…and Brian forked over a super-expensive-fancy ruby ring to seal the deal…but still, I strangely found myself shocked in the middle of their wedding ceremony on Saturday realizing that she was in fact REALLY getting married.  As many who have experience planning and going through the motions of a wedding, there comes a point when it’s almost like a car crashing into you when reality sets in.  For me at Sarah’s wedding, it was when Brian started saying his vows to Sarah.  I was so busy sucking-in (making sure my dress was looking right) and spitting strands of wind-blown hair out of my sticky lip gloss, that I was completely caught off guard when Brian’s voice cracked and I realized he was half sobbing during his vows.   This guy is as manly as they come, and both him and Sarah aren’t super “emotional”, so it was truly unexpected.  Then when it was Sarah’s turn to speak, she too was fighting the water works.  I couldn’t see her face but I had a clear view of Brian’s behind a dream-like veil floating freely in the breeze…and then what do ya know…I was crying.  HOLY CRAP!  If I had even a fraction of the expectation of tears, I totally would have layered on the waterproof-mascara.

Anyway, this was the first wedding & reception that I have EVER EVER EVER attended that I did NOT photograph.  It was truly an experience being on the other side of the camera (as usual) but this time I was Sarah’s Matron of Honor…stuck in a tiny dress and high heels (which is not my norm).  Oh, and did I mention that it was HOT, HUMID, and WWWWWINDY?  Yea…it was all that…but it was also really great to be a part of my best friend’s special day without the responsibility of shooting.  AND, I totally tore up the dance floor later that night…although it was after a few glasses of wine and I’m quite sure I wasn’t a candidate for “Dancing with the stars” like I’m sure I thought I did at the time.  🙂

I wasn’t her professional photographer, but I did manage to take a few pictures that day.   These first few were taken just minutes before walking down the isle.  She looked more beautiful on her wedding day than I’ve EVER seen her before…and I can say that truthfully since I’m her best bud.  🙂

And I had to capture one of my hunky hubby…aka: Brian’s Best Man

And long after the hired photographer had left, and all the guests, and the waiters were stacking up chairs…we eight were the last ones standing.  There was something special about our little group because Sarah and I are such long-time, good friends…and Sarah’s mother, Debbie, had her long-time best friend, Cheryl, there with her husband too…and with the beautiful Parkville night scene…it was just meant to be a perfect portrait.

By the way, the wedding took place in Parkville at Piropos.  She had a small wedding of less than 40 and this was absolutely the perfect place for it.  The ceremony was flawless outside, the cocktail hour had the MOST tasty wine and h’ordeuvres I’ve ever had, the dinner was soo soooo sooooo delicious, the cake was yummy, the staff was friendly and super attentive,….it was all amazing!  My friend had one amazing day and I am so happy for her.  They are now probably almost to Hawaii on their 9 day honeymoon…so now I’m just jealous. hahahaha

Debbie + Carl + 2 REALLY BIG Dogs = a doggone good time :)

Knowing that Debbie and Carl had two pups that were pretty much their babies, I told them we should definitely include them in the engagement session.  They both were like…”ummm…I don’t know if that will work.”  They are HUGE puppies, REALLY super excited and jumpy around newbies.  so…We decided to start the session off in their own BEAUTIFUL backyard.  After about 10 minutes of trying to figure out if they liked me, I think they got bored of me…which was good for making me and my camera a little invisible.

Gabby was quite set on only showing me her rear side…so Debbie was using grass (which Gabby liked) to bribe her to turn around.

I’m not sure how noticeable it is in this picture, but it was a dream-like day in their backyard.  The sunshine was at a perfect angle and there was so much cotton floating around in the air that it was almost like flakes of snow.  So pretty.

GORGEOUS!

HEY STUD!

Just for the record…Carl’s idea of talking dirty is going “Woohoooo”. hahahahaha

OH THIS IS HOTTNESSSSSS!!!!! I wish there were more days JUST like this one.  The temperature, minimal wind, sweeeet light…ahhh, I miss it already.  This rain has got to go!

Thanks Debbie & Carl for letting me play patty-cake and indulging my craziness.  🙂
